The purpose of the activities from the weekend was so that you would be able to say you have some personal knowledge of Hispanic Culture. This is very important to your future Hispanic students because,
Nobody cares how much you know until they know how much you care!

The article:

Ÿ The Culturally Diverse Classroom: A Guide for ESL and Mainstream Teachers By Katie J. Brigaman

is awesome because it increases awareness of diversity in the student population. By first knowing yourself, then you can empathize with others. The article is relevant to today's student needs. It is imperative as teachers to understand EACH AND EVERY STUDENT whose life we touch.

Cultural Studies Approach to Teaching English

Hi everyone!

Upon completion of the Hispanic Literature Unit everyone should feel competent to teach Hispanic Literature in the classroom. Our blog will be a great resource to refer back to.

I have wanted to learn Spanish for 20 years and hope to teach English to Hispanic students.

This unit has increased my awareness of the needs of Hispanic students and I am thankful.
